Toddler care,
Genesis III

Toddlers are the center of their own universe. They love experimenting, they love repeating, and they cannot yet see how their actions land on someone else.

The toddler program

A schedule that moves as fast as they do

Genesis III is the toddler room at our Arlington daycare, for 18 months to 2 years. It follows on from Genesis I and II, our infant rooms, and leads into the Caleb preschool rooms. See all six rooms.

Activities are planned according to age and development and cover every developmental area: cognitive, language, social and emotional, fine motor and gross motor. Toddlers also have music and movement time, creative expression, sensory play, story time, and Jesus time including Chapel on Wednesdays.

18 months to 2 years

Genesis III

The characteristics this age group possesses are astonishingly cute. They get frustrated, angry and sad just like adults do, but they cannot express their feelings the way adults can. Their vocabulary is still small, so they need help to communicate and to problem solve. That help is the job.

Because toddlers are always on the go, the daily schedule changes about every 10 to 15 minutes. We plan rotations within our class centers in motor, manipulatives, dramatic play, blocks and sensory play. The day includes circle time, arts and crafts, science, outdoor learning and centers, and teachers plan developmentally appropriate activities each week.

Circle time in Genesis III involves songs, stories and finger plays that feed growing language development and introduce new skills.

Good to know

Toddler questions, answered

What ages are in the toddler room?

Genesis III takes children from 18 months to 2 years of age.

How is the day structured for toddlers?

Toddlers are always on the go, so our daily schedule changes about every 10 to 15 minutes. We rotate through class centers in motor, manipulatives, dramatic play, blocks and sensory play. The day also includes circle time, arts and crafts, science, outdoor learning and centers. Teachers plan developmentally appropriate activities each week.

When does my toddler move up?

Throughout the building we generally transition children together to the next classroom in late August or the beginning of September, for the new school year. Children in Genesis III move up to Caleb I, which is part of our preschool program.

Do you still take children who are not potty trained?

Yes. Send diapers or pull ups and wipes, along with diaper rash cream and a completed medical authorization form so we are allowed to apply it.

Are meals included for toddlers?

Yes. Your toddler takes the meals we serve each day. If your child has any allergies, complete the allergy care plan and note the allergies on the admission packet.
