Infant care,
Genesis I and Genesis II

Our Arlington infant rooms give every baby a primary caregiver, and the curriculum in the infant room is tailored to each individual child.

The infant program

A curriculum written for one baby

Genesis I and Genesis II are the two infant rooms at our Arlington daycare, covering 6 weeks through 18 months. Genesis III, the toddler room, is where they head next, and the programs page shows all six rooms.

Activities are planned according to age and development, and cover every developmental area: cognitive, language, social and emotional, fine motor and gross motor. Our infants also have music and movement time, creative expression, sensory play, story time, and Jesus time including Chapel on Wednesdays.

6 weeks to 12 months

Genesis I

There is so much occurring in the first months of life, so many brain connections being established. Developmental skills grow day by day. This is also when babies learn that the adults around them care for them.

Infants have a variety of individual needs. While our littlest ones are mostly eating and sleeping, our older friends are busy exploring in many different ways. Babies are not only fed and changed to meet their basic needs, they are talked to and interacted with all day. Adult interaction in playing, singing and reading with babies is pivotal for their intellectual, social and spiritual development.

Each child has their own crib. We provide all bedding, bibs and toys. Per state regulations, no toys, animals or blankets are allowed in the cribs. Babies sleep on their backs.

12 to 18 months

Genesis II

When your infant is steadily walking and space is available, they transition to Genesis II.

Infants at this stage are very active with exploring and far more mobile. In this class they take one nap per day. Caregivers spend one on one time with each infant on activities focused on social and emotional development, fine motor and gross motor development, language and cognitive development, sensory exploration, creative expression, music and finger plays, and outdoor learning.

Good to know

Infant care questions, answered

What ages are the infant rooms?

Genesis I takes babies from 6 weeks through 12 months. Genesis II takes infants from 12 months through 18 months. When your infant is walking steadily and space is available, they move up from Genesis I to Genesis II.

Does my baby get their own crib?

Yes. Each child has their own crib and we provide all bedding, bibs and toys. Per state regulations no toys, animals or blankets are allowed in the cribs. Babies are placed on their backs to sleep. Once they can roll over on their own, they put themselves in all sorts of positions.

Do I send food, or do you provide it?

Either. When your child is ready for food you may supply it. If you would rather use our meals, let us know. We use a Baby Bullet to prepare fresh vegetables and fruit for our babies in our own kitchen. From Genesis II on, infants take our daily meals.

How do you keep the room clean and safe?

We follow strict health and safety practices, including sanitizing toys and keeping the food prep area and the diapering area completely separate.

How often will I hear from you?

Every day. Parents get daily reports through the Brightwheel app covering what their baby did through the day, and supply requests come through the same app. We also complete periodic observations to make sure your child is meeting their milestones, and we want to hear about new things your baby is doing at home so the partnership works both ways.

Next room up

When your infant is ready, Genesis III, our toddler room, takes over from 18 months to 2 years. See how enrollment works when you are ready to start.
